My milky complexion

January Jones forMarie-Claire

Oh, the last few days were pure magic. Finally I can feel spring on my skin and it feels way too good. Some very courageous people already let their tights hanging in their closets but I'm not that brave. A little too cold, a little too pale. As a kid people said I looked like a porcelain doll, later they asked me if I was sick. Unbelievable that people can't understand that blondes can't have that tanned skin as brunettes, most of the time it looks even very tacky... Anyway that does not mean I am not self conscious about my pale skin. Actually I really, REALLY, am.

But at the same time I don't want to have a tanned skin because I am kind of paranoid about what the sun and tanning bed can do you skin. Summer vacations were pure horror for me as a kid because I had to sit all day long in the shadow and wearing shirts and hats that were waaaaay to hot. And still I always had a sunburn.

With all this in my mind, I am extremely mindful about protecting my skin from the sun. Nowadays  I use SPF 25 on my face every day in winter and SPF 50 during the summer. My natural skin color is what it is and I'm trying to embrace this fact step by step. My legs are super white, and although I think that dark-skinned, tanned girls look more healthy and fabulous in summer clothes, I try to learn to love my milky complexion step by step.

Now over to you, are you fair skinned? And if yes, do you feel better with a bit of color? Or do you prefer to leave it au natural like me?
