Santa's magic suitcase

The holiday season is waiting around the corner and with Christmas only a couple of weeks away I thought it was a great time to share my wishlist with you.
Instead of a sock, you can see I'll set out a big fancy suitcase for Santa this year. That suitcase would be very easy so I can leave immediately after opening Santa Claus' city trip gift. A girl can dream, right?
Have any of you posted your Christmas wishlists on your blog? I always adore those posts and would love to see!

The Modern Marilyn Monroe

I love movies and I love classic Hollywood stars. So can you imagine how excited I am for this movie ‘My week with Marilyn’? Marilyn is probably one of the few classic beauties this world has ever known. But Marilyn exhibited also a lack of self-esteem, what makes here at the same time related with other women.
"It is a doubled edged sword, we want to be admired and feel special, but when all eyes are turned upon us we feel our flaws beginning to grow and magnify until we are mortified in the spotlight of their gaze." (loving Marilyn)
Monroe was an amazing actress who made everybody believe she was always happy, unfortunately she wasn’t and committed suicide. This death of Norma Jeane meant the birth of the legend Marilyn Monroe.
"I knew I belonged to the public and to the world, not because I was talented or even beautiful, but because I had never belonged to anything or anyone else."
Touching many peoples lives, Monroe was a colorful and interesting character. Here style is classic and worth to give a try. Here are some things to keep in mind when you want to give this modern Marilyn Monroe style a try. She barely ever wore bright colors in her real life. And almost always opted for black, cream, white or red. Also if Marilyn would give you one style tip it probably would be ‘ladies, show your shape and curves’. Tailored dresses and pencil skirts were essentials in her wardrobe. Match them with a sweater for these colder days. Finishing up with red lips and a beauty spot. Your ready to go, beauty.

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

What do you think about this classic hollywood star? Is her style worth to try? Or out of time?

"She was a girl who knew how to be happy even when she was sad. And that's important - you know."

Gratitude in 2011

Although Thanksgiving is more an American holiday than an European, we unfortunately don't celebrate this lovely holiday, I love the whole concept of it. It reunites families for a good meal and makes us realize how lucky we actually are. Something that we tend to forget from time to time. So I thought it might be fun to put together a few things I'm thankful for these days.

I'm thankful for...
my boyfriend and sweet cat

my parents, who love me and eachother

my Ipod, laptop and wifi

christmas lights everywhere in the city

fresh smoothies for breakfast

cozy knitwear and over knee socks

good books

cool crisp white bed sheets

smiles shared with friends and even strangers

working out and running

red wine

the winter sun that is still shining in my apartment

cuddles and kisses

...

my life and all its future opportunities.

What are you thankful for today?

White Dress in Winter

When it gets darker and colder outside I always tend to wear dark colored clothes. This outfit makes me realize that white dresses are also a perfect wear for this fall. With the addition of a trench coat and plaid scarf, a white dress can carry you straight into the colder months. And you’ll look chic doing it too.

Do you love to wear neutral colors in winter or do you, like me, tend to wear the dark colors?

Sleeping Beauty
That’s all what this beauty needs to survive this weekend. Let me explain: I didn’t have the greatest week so far. Well, especially my apartment doesn’t like the arrival of winter. Read: no heating, no hot water, no internet and a lot of mosquitoes. And now I am sick. So this weekend will consist of catching up on sleep, hot showers and eating my homemade apple cake. And ofcourse my iPhone4s: finally got him and love him!

Boyish, yet feminine

I love this girl's style: boyish with still a touch of feminine. What do you think?

Trend: Oversized (neon) Coats

The weather has started to change. In the morning you can see your breath, feel the chill in your bones, and come to terms with the fact that you need a warmer coat this year. One of the most popular styles this year is the oversized coat. So, if you prefer to shop for a new one this season instead of pulling out your old coats out of storage, this is a great buy to consider.
The only thing you have to keep in mind with these oversized, bulky coat is that you have to keep the rest of your look snug and tailored, so you still show your shape and curves.

Sequins and Sparkles #8

After a lot of procrastinations I’ll have to start this weekend with working for school at high speed. This means: put the final touches on my paper about death (no I didn’t choose that sad subject) and reading ‘Utopia’ written by Thomas More. Yeah, it is permitted to wish me luck.

unfortunately waiting on my nightstand:

other great reads around the blogosphere:
An oldfashioned movie night with friends sounds like so much fun; a brilliant idea for a monthly tradition.

And ofcourse, no movie night without a delicious popcorn bar!

A camping vacation next summer? I say "yes" if we can do it this way ;)

Apple chips; baked, tasted and approved!

Oh, I want to watch that Marilyn Monroe movie so badly.

The famous streetstyle couple in action.

Rachel Rabbit on "no make-up week":
"As I rounded the corner to my apartment I spotted a group of skaters, some guys who are crashing in a Brooklyn garden next to mine. As I approached, they greeted me, as per usual. That's when a realization hit me. Blow number one: I don't feel like I can be an attractive, sexy lady, without makeup. Blow number 2? That I actually wanted these guys to find me hot."
So true, when I leave my apartment in my sloppy jogging and/or without make-up for doing my groceries, I hate the thought that others won't like me in this "unperfect state".

And last but not least: new favorite food blog.

It's raining men

Everybody is drooling over the breathtaking Burberry Prorsum cape. But unless you have €1000 on your bank account waiting to be spend, this cape is probably way out of your league. Lucky for you Storest came up with a budget friendly transparent coat. So now everybody can stay fashionable whatever the weather. YEEHAW!

Beauty on her way

So, it was about time I made the big step to buy a smartphone. Last Friday night I finally ordered my very own iPhone4s! I’ve waited a long time for this moment because I wanted to wait until the 5 came out. Well, that didn’t happen. I tried to control myself and keep on waiting, but as a total media addict I really need a phone that can do more than only sending messages or making calls. The black iPhone4s it is and I’m more than exciting for getting this beauty in my mail sooner or later.
I'm not only a total media addict, fashion is also appreciated here. So now I am already choosing her outfit. You can see I tend to white frames which is quiet stupid after buying the black edition. You really have to help me with this, I found this site Society6 where they have a billion lovely design cases. But I love to keep things clean and fresh so I can’t decide to buy just a standard (maybe boring) frame or one of these cuties. What do you think?

note: If you know some awesome iPhone apps: SHOOT!

Soirée Cinéma Français

Bonjour, mes amies! Qu’es-ce que faire au samedi soir?  Dégustez un verre de vin français? Savourez une baguette avec du fromage français? Non? Mais oui, je me souviens: on va regarder des films français! Ça sera vraiment amusant! Etc, etc.
For having French as my second language in school I’m not good at all in it. For them who aren’t familiar either with French, here’s a translation. Hello my friends! What to do this Saturday night? Enjoying a glass of French wine? Or you maybe like to eat the typical French baguette with some cheese? No? Oh, now I remember, we’re going to watch the French movies you must see with my favorite French actress, Audrey Tautou. She's not only an amazing actress, but also one of my style crushes. Because who doesn't envy those always elegant French chicks?

Sequins and Sparkles #7

Talking about a fun week. Boyfriend and I made some fun walks along the beach, had a lot of fancy dinners, tasted great red wine (I really start liking red wine over white), ordered an Iphone4S and left a night at the casino with some extra cash. More weeks like this please!

&Here are some fun links to end the week with.
I can't wait to have a little talk with Siri.

These ladies will keep me motivated for a while, I even bought new running shoes today!

Well, this would keep me bicycle too.

We're all guilty of "girl on girl crime". Let's stop it now.

Next time I'll book a vacation I'll check these incredible hotels. Staying in alert!

Some great insights on becoming a better writer, very useful!

I love this DIY galaxy print tee!

My boyfriend would love me more if I would participate in this movement. No make up for one month,  something for you?

Breath of fresh air

Boyfriend and I are enjoying a little getaway at the coast right now. Just the two of us making beach walks, having tête-à-têtes and enjoying a glass of wine from time to time. I wish I could tell you that I’m wandering around here in a fancy outfit similar to this one, but I’m not. Hey, I’m wearing Uggs too, unfortunately the comparison stops there. And oh, if you were wondering, we don’t have the boat couch either. Still, two happy faces over here!
